Some stunning views from above LMAC

Some stunning views from above and around LMAC. Saddington, Foxton, Gumley, Gartree Prison and Bruntingthorpe in the distance are all in view.

Matt Chamberlain tests and trims his new SkyWalker FPV plane LOS before landing it whilst flying FPV as shown in the above video.  Having the GoPro camera right on the nose, means you can get more ground as opposed to sky in the video if you angle the camera slightly downwards. I'm sure we will be seeing more from this plane in 2014.

Enjoy.

Old meets New

A couple of weeks back, Matt Chamberlain was given special permission by the club and Pete Catlow to hover over the Control Line circle to capture the following video.  The video shows Pete flying his control line Twister which is being captured on video by Matt flying FPV with his DJI 450 Quad Copter.

On a Control Line note, Andy Green entered the Bowden Competition at the FF NATS and came 11th out of a field of 40. Well done Andy and we look forward to seeing you back at Gumley very soon.

Two unlikely visitors to the flying field!

Matt Chamberlain's new DJI 450 Quadcopter equipped with the Naza controller board got it's maiden FPV flight on Wednesday evening.  Whilst flying FPV, Matt spotted two objects in the lower left corner of the field (not visible from the flight line). The video footage from the On Screen Display shows what he found!

We later managed to heard the two visitors back to their home, but 20 minutes later they were back and Howard was informed!

As can be seen from the video, the Quad is incredibly versatile and stable and it was a shame the ground station recorded the video in Black and White.  Matt's currently waiting for a special camera gimbal which will carry the HD GoPro camera and enable him to tilt the camera to look directly down whilst the aircraft sits in GPS altitude hold!  All very technical stuff!

Penguin spotted flying over LMAC!

Matt Chamberlain presents his Finwing Penguin FPV plane flying for the first time over LMAC on Sunday 17th February. The flight was filmed from a GoPro Hero 3 camera (HD) with clips from the OSD footage (what you see from the goggles or video monitor) with embedded telemetry.   As the sound track encourages, "get up and try" - FPV.  Anyway interested in learning more, then let Matt know and you can happily have a fly on the buddy lead.  Great views flying around the field and is Spring finally in the air?
